The certificate distribution ritual took place immediately following the Rector’s remarks. This solemn and sacred moment marked the students’ maturity in knowledge and personality, opened a new stage full of challenges as well as promises to the new graduates.
The new graduates’ joy when receiving their certificate of graduation
Madame Ton Nu Thi Ninh- Director of Tri Viet Center for Education Research and Development (former Vice-Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee of the National Assembly) also participated in the ceremony; she congratulated the new Hoa Sen University graduates. On this occasion, she shared some useful tips with the new graduates: "Live with aspiration, dare to cope with risks when needed, then you will grasp a number of big opportunities in your life".
Madame Ton Nu Thi Ninh shared her opinion to the new graduates of Hoa Sen University
In addition to the common joy of the graduation ceremony, the graduates’ bright smiles also marked an outstanding mature group of 127 valedictorians, salutatorians and excellent degree titles. The joy also multiplied because 70.76% of the new graduates had found their job placement prior to their receiving graduation certificates (an increase of 13% in comparison to the same period of the previous year).1
Once more, these proud figures affirmed the training quality of Hoa Sen University and at the same time this proved the bravery and dynamics of every generation of Hoa Sen University’s students during the integration process and their contribution to the socio-economic development process of the country. The positive increase in the percentage of job placement showed that Hoa Sen University’s new graduates have their own advantages highly appreciated in the labor market.
According to the statistics from the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the 2014 labor market still faces difficulties, especially for the new graduates from colleges and universities. In the 4th quarter of 2013, there were more than 900,000 unemployed people of working age in the entire country. This was an increase of 48,000 people in comparison with the same period in 2012. Especially, the percentage of unemployment among the working people aged 15 – 24 is 48% at this time and more than 20.75% of them attained college and university degrees (new graduates), which means it is four times higher than the general percentage of unemployment.
Facing this situation, however, the Hoa Sen University’s graduates have kept their competitive advantage, especially the university level of the Tourism & Travel Management Branch of the Faculty of Languages & Cultural Studies had 100% of their new graduates getting job placements right at their graduation; other branches such as International Trade, Marketing, Accounting of the Faculty of Economics & Commerce had more than 80% of their new graduates getting job placements right at their graduation. This is an encouraging sign on their ability in terms of professional knowledge and skills, their foreign language ability as well as their better integration into the international labor market.
New graduates practiced the ritual of throwing their graduation caps
For the ceremony closing, the new graduates practiced the ritual of throwing their graduation caps into the air. The high-flying caps will bring along the aspiration of the Hoa Sen University’s lecturers and graduates as well as the trust and love of their parents.
Congratulations to the success of the Hoa Sen University’s graduates. We hope that the smiles in this graduation day will continue to shine brighter in your following success – when you will be actually in charge of a professional job and contribute to the country’s socio-economic development. We wish that all new graduates obtain stability very soon and to use all of their capacity and knowledge in their future life and work.
Different from the usual statistics on employment, Hoa Sen University always announces a percentage of employment right at graduation. This is the percentage of students obtaining employment prior to receiving their graduation certificates. Usually, the published statistics are counted 10 – 14 days prior to graduation day in order to facilitate the organizing and printing of data.
