A Night Show of the 2014 Graduation Collection by Fashion Design Students

On 28 June, 2014 a night fashion show was held at the main campus of Hoa Sen University, 8 Nguyen Van Trang Street, District 1, for evaluating the Fashion Design students’ graduation collection. This was an occasion for the students to freely create and blow life into their first products made on their own. The occasion marked their achievement during four years of effort at the university. The event also marked the development of a professional training in highly applied art within the framework of cooperation between Hoa Sen University and the International Art & Fashion Institute of Mod’Art Paris.

It is well known that, in order to complete these collections, the students of Class TK10 – Fashion Design major, Hoa Sen University had to pass four academic years of professional exercises requiring much study and research from the smallest skills, such as the method on how to find the palette of colors for their collection, how to create the motifs… to the skills of draping the fabric on mannequins, cutting the design patterns and completing the garments. The most difficult task was that the candidates would know the trends, apply them into their collection design and know how to create new trends. During 15 weeks of their graduation project realization, the students had to present and defend their ideas as well as their collection realization plans with strict professional guidance from lecturers coming from the International Art & Fashion Institute of Mod’Art Paris. Every day, the students had to arrange their time for the purchase of materials, draping, knitting and drawing of motifs…

Every student’s portfolio was sent to the board of juries for rating. The final results were announced on the night of June 28, 2014 when the final scores were announced revealing the best collection. At the first fashion show in June of 2013, the audience and the professionals highly appreciated the quality of the first collections produced by the graduating students.

The program was composed of two parts:

  • Part 1 (from 17:30, free entrance): Exhibition of the students’ former collections which were produced and had won awards from various contests and the current graduation collection. At the night event, video clips revealed the 15-week production of the students’ collections.
  • Part 2: (from 18:00): Fashion show of the graduation collections with evaluation from experts and famous fashion designers (ticket entrance).
