Vietnam to have first foreign non-profit university

An organization in the US has gotten the green light to establish a non-profit university in Ho Chi Minh City, the first of its kind in Vietnam.

The Trust for University Innovation in Vietnam (TUIV) had its proposal to establish Fulbright University Vietnam approved in principle by Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam on Tuesday, Thoi Bao Kinh Te Sai Gon (Saigon Times) reported Wednesday.

Vu Thanh Tu Anh, director of research at the Fulbright Economics Teaching Program (FETP) in Vietnam, was quoted as saying that the university would initially focus on master's degree courses that will be designed in accordance with FETP.
Later it will expand its scope to undergraduate and doctorate courses.
